An Alternative Way to Increase Air Quality

Plants by a kitchen sink

Adding plants to your home is an excellent way to add somecolor to your home along with the added benefit of helping to purify and clean the air. We’ve listed some common houseplants that you should be able to pick up at your local garden center or shop that’ll make a big difference in your home!

Peace Lily

Peace lilies are easy to care for; they can even let you know when they need watering (they’ll begin to droop!) These lively plants are excellent at filtering out formaldehyde and carbon dioxide. When handling these plants, it’s important you wash your hands afterward as these plants cause mild irritation to humans and even pets.

Dragon Tree

This plant makes a great addition to any setting bothindoor and outdoor. It grows leaves that can turn a variety of colors, so it’ll help make a room pop. But it also helps to detox the air around it by absorbing xylene and trichloroethylene, which have been proven causers of breast cancer.

Boston Fern

The fern is one of the most common house plants you canfind around. It’s so popular because of how easy it is to maintain – all it needs is an area with some humidity, low light, and damp soil. While being one of the most hassle-free plants out there, it also does a wonderful job of cleansing the air of formaldehyde.

Spider Plant

These plants are great for novice gardeners or thosewithout a green thumb due to the amount of abuse they can take. The only requirements for this plant to thrive is soil that drains well, bright indirect sunlight, and regular watering. It’s also effective at cleansing your home’s air of carbon monoxide.

Aloe Vera

This plant has been known to cure a plethora of ailments, but it’s most famous for its healing properties associated with sunburns. But it can do more than soothe your skin; it’s also great at ridding your home of formaldehyde.
